The Permanet Art

Today I can talk about anything I want! but... that's the difficult, because it's always hard to choose one topic to talk about,  and after think and think I choose: Tattoos.

Well, since I was a little girl I like the art of tattoos, mostly because my brother (eleven years older) always want to get one (or a few), so he always tell me about the signification of some tattoos, what you have to do to keep it health, the risks, etc. And then, when I was ten years old he get his first tattoo, was a bar-code with his RUT on it, for him, this represents that we are just another number for the State. But, after a few years he realized that the art wasn't done properly, so he covered it with another tattoo, this one was made much better. He has four tattoos until now.

I like tattoos because, for me, always has to mean something, whatever, but has to mean something special for you, you don't get one only for be a "cool person" or because you want to tell the people you are a rude person or something fool like that, it's more deeper, has to represent some of your story, has to tell stories, stuff you like, things you love or something you don't want to forget.

Even the tattoo art isn't a new technique, many people think so. But there is evidence of a 5.200 years old tattoo, which was found on a neolithic mummy

Hello everybody! Today I have to write about a great Chilean, and was so hard to me to choose one, but finally I choose a woman, a woman with a great imagination that fulfill my childhood days with their histories, I talk about Ester Huneeus, best knowing as Marcela Paz.

She was a writer, mostly developed as a child stoyteller. She gave life to one of the most readed saga of Chilean books: Papelucho.

Who he/she is,

What he/she did,

Why this person's deeds are important,

What question you would like to ask this person if you met them.

Mention anything else you think is important.

My lovely girls

Hello everyone! This time I have to talk about two members of my family, Sussy and Matilda, my lady dogs <3

Well, I met Sussy when I was thirteen years old, I was walking on a street near to my house with my mom and my little sister when we see a little puppy outside of a house, we all think that she was running out by mistake, so my sister pick up her and knock the door, when the door was open I tell to the woman that I was found her puppy and she tell me that wasn't her puppy, was a street puppy that always get inside her front yard and close the door, immediately. We don't know what to do with this little street puppy, but when I see her little and beautiful eyes of afraid and cold I fall in love with her immediately, so I tell to my mom if we can keep it, because was winter and if we don't carry her to our home she probably die the next day for hypothermia, so my mom can't say no to that, and since that day Sussy it's part of my family.

I remember that when we bring it home she was so little and fluffy, was like a little teddy bear with huge and beautiful brown eyes. The next day we carry her to the veterinary to get her inoculation. That night she can't sleep, so I decide to put her into my bed and she don't leave until the end of the winter, when my mom tell me to not let her get inside again, but to that time she was more healthy for sleep alone. Four year later Sussy had six babes, and one of them was Matilda. We give four of them in adoption and keep to Matilda and Carito, but she get very sick in her first year and three month later she die. Matilda it's beautiful like her mom, and inherit her beautiful eyes.
My two girls are very important to me, because she always give me all her love and let me pet them all that I want, because they are full of energy and love to give. They love to play with me or anyone that have a ball or something to play with. The more relaxing thing to me it's caress them with my foot meanwhile they sleep, and they love me when I do that, I know that sound weird, but for us it's an act of love for each other.

Sharing my life

Hello Everyone! Today I have to talk about a very important person to me, my best friend.

I have very good friends that are very special to me and I know them for a long time, even twelve years for some, so it's hard to choose only one, because all have a important place on my heart, but with Esteban we became close very quickly and is my best friend, my partner in crime and for almost two years, my boyfriend.

Well, I met him in 2007, when we were in the last year of primary school. That's the first time we talk each other, but I know about his existance since third grade, because we always went in the same school, but in different study days. I remember we hate each other, commonplace in schools with differents study days, but the day that we talk for the very first time we become best friends until now.

I love Esteban for many reasons, he always makes me laugh because we have a very similar sense of humor, has been with me on many occasions, both difficult and happy, it's one of the greatest persons I know and is a unconditional friend. I love that always has a smile on his face and a warm hug for me when I need it, he become a very important person in my life and I can't imagine my life without him, we are very close.

When we were younger, we saw each other almost every day, always at night after came from school, we talk for hours with our friends Camila and Macarena and I really miss that days, more simples. Today we try very hard to see us, it's more difficult, but we can stay together on weekends and share with our closest friends.

A powerful weapon: Languages

Hello everyone, this time I have to write about a very Anthropological subject: Languages.

I think that languages are the most important thing in the cultures, because they are the base of the communication, and in a society, we have to communicating to each other for can live calm. The languages give us the power for develop our intelligence, express our emotions, and define our self, and that's make us humans, be conscious of what we are, and what we can do.

As an Anthropologist, the opinion of Mark Pagel scared me, because for me, it be like terrible the fact that all the languages disappears and only survive one, that will be devastating for the cultures, because one and only languages can't explain all the habits, customs, thinking, dreams, rituals or even all the words of all the cultures in this planet. For me, that survive one language not mean that the people can express their self better, to the contrary,

Be A Chilean

Hello everyone, today I have to write about something I know really well: be a Chilean. But, first of all, what's make us Chileans? Like an Anthropologist, I think goes beyond than living in the country or was born here, it's more about identity, be represented for a language, tradition, history, people, and all the cultural context that represent live in a particular place.

For me, Chilean people are easily recognizable, 'cause we have many characteristics that are own, the first and most visible it's the language, it's true, in Chile are a lot of different idioms and accents from the Spanish, and other tongues that are native (Mapudungún, Aymará, Rapa Nui, for example) but our expressions and the base of our vocabulary are recognized from Arica to Punta Arenas, and beyond.

Keep Dreaming ~

Hello cyberpeople, we met again. This time a I have to write about dreams.

First one: Night dreams. I usually dream a lot, and had very crazy dreams, I only remember had dreams in color, but I think sometime I had a black & white dream that I don't remember well. Personally, I believe that dreams are thing that our unconscious show us for remember people, things, places, and even for show us our fears, desires, etc. Sometimes, I had premonitory dreams that I will live years later, I don't know when, I don't know wich, but I will. I just remember one time, when I was a child I dreaming an scene of me looking to a room, and inside were two girl older than me, viewing a locker, that's it; then, many years later I lived that scene, with my classmates in High School, was very strange. This happened to me many times, and it's always strange and exciting at the same time, makes me feel special.

The next one: Daydreams. These are my favourites, because I have the control over it. I'm a dreamer, that's it, I  expend the whole hour of bus travel to my house dreaming about everything: my future, my career, travels, plans, and many little things I want to do sometime, I have the luck of accomplished many of my old dreams, the most important and for which I have fought more it's be an Universitary, and I'm very proud of that, because I could give to my mom that happiness.

Well, for finish I can say that one of my favorite quote it's "Keep Dreaming", because for me the first step it's dream it for do it, but make sure of "Do it right".

A simple advice:

I need technology?

Really, I don't have a piece of technology that is actually mine and still working ( yes, I'm a destroyer, hahaha) but I want to talk about two things that make my life easier, well, they did.
The first one is my loved MP4 Fujitel, that was very special
to me because I buy it with my own money, they was a simple and cheap stereo player who accompanied me for
four years, and I absolutely love it because I only charged
it one hour and I can listen music all day long, and that's
¡WONDERFUL!. But one day, a couple of month ago,
just was spoiled, and I miss it so much, but I can say that I'm not dead, and my life keep going even without it.
In the other hand, I have my notebook, that it's also spoiled, but it's on the doctor to be fixed. It is a Lenovo 3000 N100, that it's a great machine, has a very wide screen which is my favorite feature of it, and I missed so much because I really need it now, 'cause it has tons of documents that I have not backed up elsewhere, but until they arrive, I survive in the University with my sister's notebook. That's all for now, Have a nice day :)

Say together: "Libérate"

In spanish, yes, because that the characteristic word from the heroin of my favourite anime: Card Captor Sakura.  Really, I don't think that's the first anime I saw, but without a doubt it's my favourite since I was a seven years girl.
Anime it's refers to a Japanese Cartoon, that have many different topics to a regular "Disney animation" like the couples (people it's not only straight), explicit thing (sex, murder, blood) and the combination between magic and reality, it's very interesting, funny, and some times a little bit shocking.
The reason why I started to saw anime is my old brother, who like to see anime all day long and me, like a little girl, do the same that him, so, the most of the anime I saw was very old and strange for my child eyes, and that's the reason why I don't remember the most of the anime I see with him (considering that my brother is eleven years older than me) but even that, I absolutely love seen this colorful and magical little humans and animal who talk and do amazing things, so I still see anime during my childhood (without my brother) and my life in general.
About Card Captor Sakura I can say that it's a really nice anime, because it's for little girls, but it's also have adult topic like the sexuality (it's not explicit, but have a lot gay couples in there), even that, it's a great anime which is about a little girl (Sakura, 10 years) that discover a magic book that release many of magic cards that she had to "seal", because they can produce a lot of damage. For me, it's still interesting because had it all: magic, love, friendship, and a Archaeologist (Sakura's Dad) and I enjoy it even now.
I also love the anime music, like the openings and endings (I didn't take many attention to the middle music) and the most I like is from Sakura, Slam Dunk, Kaleido Star, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Detective Conan, Evangelion and many others that fully my childhood days.

Here is Sakura with her "toy" Kero, who is really a Card's keeper, who also take care of
Sakura and teach her all that he knows about the cards and how catch it.

"Can you see anything?", "Yes, wonderful things."

That's the famous words that Howard Carter answered to Lord Carnarvon when he saw for the very first time the antechamber from the Tutankhamun's tomb, watching through a small hole he made.

I admired him since I was a child, I think since 6th grade in elementary, when my favourite teacher give us the task of draw something related to Egypt, and I drew the famoust "Mask of Tutanhamun", in that moment I found my dream career, Archeology. For me, and my child eyes, Archeology was so magical, mysterious and unique that I fell in love inmediately, so I just want to know more and more, in special, from Egyptian culture, for that reason I read about Howard Carter and his discovery.

He was, somehow, a self-taught Archaeologist, because he never study formaly the career, but he was formed under the wing of other great Archaeologists, feeding on their knowledge and experience. He was  born in London in 1874, and pass his educational life on charge of tutors; he inherited from his father, Samuel Carter (Painter), their ability to draw, which led him to travel to Egypt at 17 for copying wall paintings for Percy Newberry.

His career starting very slowly, but finally he turned famous by Tuntanhamun and that's not less. I admired him because he work very hard to accomplish his dream, and that's inspired me to do the same. For you to know more, I let you this link (in Spanish, I don't know an English page) http://www.egiptologia.com/ that recount about Howard Carter and his discovery, I hope you like and enjoy it!

Here you can see him cleaning with a brush  Tutankhamun's second coffin.

When the day met the night

That's the name of one of the most beautiful love songs (to me) and it's by Panic! at the Disco, my favourite band of all time.

They are a young band from Las Vegas, USA, that was formed in 2004, the members are Brendon Urie (lead singer, piano) ; Ryan Ross (guitar, second voice, lyrics) ; Spencer Smith (drums, percussion) and Brent Wilson (bass) who left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Jon Walker, who left the band with Ryan Ross in 2009. Now, the current band are Brendon Urie, Spencer Smith and Dallon Weekes.

Despite these constant changes, I have loved this band since 2008, and despite the most fans think, their music is still great and magic. They had three studio albums: A Fever You Can't Sweat Out (2005) ; Pretty.Odd (2008) and Vices & Virtues (2011). Each one have his own magic, and it's own unique personality, which transports me to many different places where I really can feel their music, and I love every nonsense lyric, every note, and every single scream from Brendon (I seriously fell in love with his voice). To all that, add it I saw them live in 2009, and  it was the most incredible thing that happened to me, because I met them in person, something that I imagined many times but never thought it could happen, it was simply epic , I will never forget that day. And for you to know, here I leave a video of one of the songs they sang at the concert in Chile, which was the November 10th at the Movistar Arena. Enjoy it!

My Autobiography

Hello everybody, my name is Karina, and here we go...

Well, I have to write something about me, ¿What can I say? , the first thing that I have to mention is that I was born in Santiago, Chile, and I have lived all my life at the same house, like my mother did, and my grandma before her. I went to Presidente Abraham Lincoln elementary, where I met a few of my loving friend, the ones who stood by me at that time, then I went to Miguel Luis Amunátegui High School, where I met other of my very good friends and began to fight harder for my dream of becoming an Archaeologist, something that my mom didn't share, because she was afraid that I would leave her, but when she understand that I would never change my mind, she supported me in any way she could, so, here I am now, studyng Anthropology/Archaeology at Universidad de Chile, and spending my time with lovely people.
